At Bottled Guidance, all of our infusions typically feature the incorporation of one herbal spirit (with the exception of a few). This makes our products different than most because by only using one herbal spirit, you- as the user, get to experience the fullness of energies each herb brings to the body in purity. This process of creating a product centered around one herbal spirit becomes a sacred act, working intentionally to integrate all aspects of energies coming in to play, in one cohesive way, that is delivered in the form of skincare. Every herb is powerful and special in it's own right, bringing you healing in more ways than one and usually a story to tell. When the inspiration came to make our first ever lotion formula + sacral centre product, the Reishi Mushroom surfaced as the spirit to use, and during it's very elongated research & formulation process- it illuminated many aspects that are hidden within all of us.

Reishi Mushrooms

 

Through the alchemizing process of formulating this lotion, this product became a divine expression of the Reishi Mushroom- promoting all of it's unique healing abilities and grounding nature. Reishi is a dark mushroom with a glossy exterior and woody texture when growing, they even resemble the look of the inside of an ancient tree with many rings growing in it, thus it is an extremely grounding & balancing force when applied for the body, heart, and soul. With a deep caramel/pumpkin coloring to the lotion itself, it works to balance the Sacral Centre, which has to be grounded in order to be sustained and functional. Because of this, the complimenting scent in this lotion smells like you are standing in the middle of the grounding force of a forest- light, woodsy, and uplifting to the senses.  The key to activating and balancing the sacral centre is sustaining it's energy, because it can be so overwhelmingly disorienting at first when released in full force, it requires the entire body to be in full cohesion with itself in order to be sustained. The Reishi Mushroom helps tremendously with just that, it is an adaptogen- giving the body only what it needs to come into balance, it is calming and regenerative, and helps to restore the nervous system. ​

​The Reishi Mushroom is also an ancient spirit, with documentation of all it's highly attributed healing properties spanning back thousands of years. The Chinese call it the "Mushroom of Immortality" because they believe it is a superior herb that can be taken daily without toxicity to promote longevity and vitality. They say it works to balance the body's vital life-force energy, nourish the spirit, and extend life. While Taoists believe it is the herb of "spiritual potency" and prized the Reishi Mushroom as an elixir for achieving enlightenment and warding off disease. Some texts even claim it could "lighten the body and prevent aging, thus increasing one's lifespan." All across East Asia it was valued for its role in harmonizing yin and yang energies, and was often used as a symbol for prosperity and spiritual power. These cultures viewed Reishi not just as a medicine but as a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms.​ 

 

Topically, when applied to the skin, it is loaded with anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant benefits. The antioxidants they contain are called polysaccharides, triterpenoids, peptides, and beta-glucans. Polysaccharides help to enhance skin hydration and repairs by maintaining moisture levels and preventing dryness. Studies show that these compounds work to promote cell regeneration and improve skin texture. Triterpenoids are the anti-inflammatory compounds- they reduce redness and irritation by controlling skin inflammation, research also suggests they have an affinity for supporting eczema and psoriasis. The peptide content in Reishi Mushrooms help to improve collagen production- they help maintain skin elasticity and firmness while the increased collagen levels work to promote a youthful appearance. Pumpkin Seed Oil

Pumpkin seed oil is the perfect skin ally during the autumn months, just as our bodies begin to crave the nutrients found in our fall squashes- so does the skin. Pumpkin seed oil is known for it's anti-acne, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and skin soothing benefits. It is lightweight and is easily absorbed into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling behind. It is high in potassium, magnesium, and zinc which are all essential minerals to help regulate the amount of water in cells, help with the formation of new collagen cells, and improve skin texture + elasticity. It carries beta-carotene and unsaturated fatty acids which give it anti-inflammatory properties and the ability to fight off acne causing bacteria. Pumpkin seed oil also has antimicrobial + anti-fungal properties and is known to be active against fungi like Candida and assist in the wound healing process. This oil also works as a photoprotective agent and works to minimize UV-induced collagen damage and hyperpigmentation.

Also one of the standout qualities of mango butter is it's ability to moisturize deeply without feeling too greasy or heavy on the skin. It is readily absorbed, doesn't clog pores, and helps to create a protective barrier on the skin to protect against pollution and UV radiation. Beef Tallow

Tallow closely mimics skin sebum, making it easily absorbed and less likely to clog pores while also maintaining a healthy moisture barrier on the skin. Because of how closely it resembles the natural makeup of the skin cells, it is bio-compatible with most skin types and is also easily absorbed without being too greasy. Beef tallow is also rich in fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, & K, and is incredibly rich in saturated fats and triglycerides. These lipids form a breathable barrier that seals in moisture while allowing the skin to function normally. Unlike many water-based mainstream lotion formulas that evaporate quickly, tallow deeply hydrates and keeps skin soft and supple. Healing Essence​s

This lotion has a captivating scent blend of cedarwood, balsam fir, cypress, vetiver, frankincense, and eucalyptus. The synergy of these essences unfolds in layers. The scent is grounding yet uplifting and feels like you are standing barefoot in moss, after rain, and beneath ancient towering cedars. It emanates the energy of the Reishi Mushroom, sitting in stillness on the forest floor. Cedarwood acts as spiritual authority, it helps to anchor the root centre by helping to rebuild the energetic spine. By this essence being present, it helps you to feel the courage to take up space in the most authentic way possible.

Vetiver acts as the roots of the Earth. Ancient cultures believe it helps to pull scattered energy back into the body by sealing the earth star centre and preventing spiritual leakage.

Frankincense is used in ever major religion to invoke the Divine. It activates the third eye centre by raising your vibration to act as a bridge between heaven and Earth.
